Shooter Safety Check

What Finnish shooters have to do before they can shoot practical matches?

A new shooter starts his (her) classes first by learning the rules and regulations and then they have to pass a literary examination to get a competitors license. The cost is $ 50 per year including insurance to cover all possible accidents.

After that, pupils then start shooting classes on a range to learn gun safety handling and proper methods to use during course of fire. When they are ready for a practical examination, the trainer calls the instructor to follow the field test.

The instructor gives a Safe Shooter™ certificate for all shooters that pass the test. Then they can shoot in matches.

Interest towards practical shooting is growing all the time and this sounds hard for new shooters but we can't take risks in the basic safety of practical shooting. Practical shooting is a good example of excellent discipline in gun handling and safe shooting. So far, we have had no accidents and we will try to keep it that way.
